The surgeries performed by ophthalmologists at the symposium were broadcast live and watched by approximately 1400 ophthalmologists from national and international area. A total of 250 people, including ophthalmologists and health personnel, took part in the surgeries and ensured that 70 patients regained their eye health.
The Turkish Ophthalmological Association, the only association representing ophthalmologists in Turkey, continues to organize world-class quality events and training organizations to ensure the professional development of ophthalmologists in our country. The Live Surgery Symposium has become the most important and well-attended meeting of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association after the annual National Congress. Within the scope of the symposium, which allows ophthalmologists to share their knowledge and experience, 70 surgeries on different topics were performed in cooperation with the Turkish Ministry of Health Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, and the surgeries were broadcast live in high resolution at the Bilkent Hotel and Congress Center and watched online by the participants and ophthalmologists from abroad.
Education must continue under all conditions
Prof. Dr. Huban Atilla, MD President of Turkish Ophthalmological Association said, “This year’s TOD 8th Live Surgery symposium was held at the Ministry of Health Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, just like last year. Live broadcasts and discussion sessions organized with the contributions of the Strabismus, Oculoplasty, Cornea and Ocular Surface, Glaucoma, Cataract and Refraction Surgery and Vitreoretinal Surgery units of the Turkish Ophthalmological Association were watched at Bilkent Hotel and Congress Center. Thanks to the sponsored live surgery sessions and meetings organized by industry companies, technological developments, technical and technological innovations and developments were shared with the participants.”
70 surgeries were performed in 4 days
Prof. Dr. Huban Atilla stated that ophthalmologists from our country and from all over the world participated in the symposium for 4 days and continued as follows. “Approximately 900 ophthalmologists from Turkey and more than 500 foreign ophthalmologists from abroad followed the operations and 250 health personnel took part in the operations. Our planning, patient selection and other preparations for the surgeries before this Symposium continue intensively.”
